Unto Us a Son is Given

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6).

Does God have a Son?

As a man, God was a Son, As God he was the Father, The mighty God, the everlasting Father. but how could a Father be born, surely all men are born sons!

Unto us….a child is born.
Unto us a child is given.

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35

shall be called the Son of God . There never was anyone in the Old testament the Son of God. The Son of God was not a person in the Old Testament which tells me that the oen who was to be called the Son of God was himself God.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prop1hets, 2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son Hrbrews 1:1

in the last days he God , yes God himself spopke to us by his son. that’s when the Son appeared, in the last days.

Why is Jesus called the Son of God if he was God?

The answer is he is called the ‘Son of God’ according to the flesh ( Romans 1:3,4). He is not called the Son of God in the Old Testament yet he existed as God in the Old testament. The New testament then reveals that God took on flesh and was born of a woman.

He was the Son of David and the Son of (Abraham Matt1:1). yet neither Abraham or David bore a son called Jesus. He was supposed as the Son of Joseph and the Son of Mary (Luke 3;23 Mark 6;3). yet Joseph was not his physical Father.

Jesus refers to himself as The ‘Son of God’ and once as the ‘Son of man.’ Once as the only begotten of the Father. Five times in Johns gospel John 1;14,18;3,16,18 1 John4;9. The term ‘only begotten’ is used of Abraham’s Son Isaac (Hebrews 11;17) yet Isaac was in another sense not the only begotten Son. Ishmael was also his Son. Similarly we today as believers born of his spirit as the ‘sons of God’ (1 John 3;2). not as phyiscal Sons of God but as those born of begotten of the Father.

The Council of Nicea declares he was ‘begotten not made’ however John1 states that he the Word made all things. Therefore he himself was not made but as God proceeded from God and only as one who proceeds from God can he be said to be the Son of God. It is his humanity that gives him sonship, yet as God in essence and substance he remains forever God!

The African folks today will call a stranger Father once they get to know them as it is a way of showing honour or respect to those senior to themselves. Now a man would not be their biological father yet their reference to one as FATHER is sincere.

Similarly the title used of Jesus as ‘Son’ is a title of respect and not that he is the biological son who God procreated, for in this sense God has no Son BUT he himself as a Father became a Son to die for us and save us and provide redemption for us. Therefore this aspect or reference to Jesus as the Son of God is how we understand God in his humanity acting talking and speaking as one who is subjective to another, living as a Son! (1 Timothy 3:16).

Further when scripture tells us that God gave his only begotten son, we conclude that it was God who gave us himself as a Son. The everlasting Father is the Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, God with us (Isaiah 9;6).

To conclude God became flesh and the flesh (Jesus) was known as the Son of God and the Son of man. he was not he physical son of many men. but the Father who himself has no Father, he simply existed and exists as God (John 1:1,14).

The Priceless Gift

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (Matthew 2:1-2).

The birth of Jesus shows us that it is possible to come to God, further the birth reveals that God came to us. No other god has done this!

We can come to God too. Jesus said I ma the way… no man cometh unto the Father but by me (John 14:6). He is able to save them.. that come to God…by him (John 7:25).

When we come to Jesus we come to God
When we speak the name of Jesus we speak to God.
When we worship Jesus we worship God.
It is impossible to come to the Father but by Jesus.

In the biblical account of Matthew of the birth of Jesus we find natures response to his appearing and coming. Nature confirming the arrival of its Creator and maker.

First we have the Star . Jesus is the bright and morning star. Rev 22:16). We have the light. Jesus is the light of men (John 1:4). Then we have the glory. Jesus is the Lord of Glory (1 Cor 2:8) The king of glory (Psalm 24:10). We have the king, a king is born. Jesus is the King of Kings (Rev 14;14). The one whose name is wonderful (Isaiah 9:6).

we have the gift “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” the best of earthly gifts met its match with the gift of God! The wise men gave their best to the one who came to give us the best, his gift, the Gift of God! which is eternal life.

Signs in heaven and earth bore witness to the Creators event. the INCARNATION of God himself God himself of coming to man. Himself the witness! Men today mock at the coming of the Lord but he came himself, He came the first time.

Romans 10;9 or John 3;5 Salvation?

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

Declaring that Jesus is Lord is no guarantee for salvation. How do we know this? Because Jesus himself said, “Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) Upon this basis Romans 10:9 cannot be the sole scripture for salvation. further Jesus said, (Luke 6:46). “The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.”

 46. Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do not do what I say?

The question is have we obeyed Jesus? have we done what he said? Have we done what he said in John 3;5 that is have we been born of water and spirit? Have we obeyed Acts 2:38? this too is the Word of the Lord!

Not everyone who confess Jesus is Lord will make it to heaven…not .. “And then I will declare to them I never knew you depart form me ye evildoers” (Matthew 7:23).

So we see the case where we obey one scripture and not another not realising that John 3 is direct contradiction to Romans 10:9. ‘He cannot enter the kingdom of heaven’ The answer is clear Romans 10;9 is not another way to be saved it simply is a starting point. further Paul was not making a call for salvation in Romans he was simply addressing the fact that the roman church yes Christians, were relying on works to gain them entrance to the kingdom. He was simply stating a fact, not giving them a salvation message!

47. I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them: 48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid his foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the torrent crashed against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

49But the one who hears My words and does not act on them is like a man who built his house on ground without a foundation. The torrent crashed against that house, and immediately it fell—and great was its destruction!”

Building your house on Romans 10:9 is building your house on sandy soil salvation

Faith in the Name

One afternoon Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.a 2And a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those entering the temple courts.b 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.

4Peter looked directly at him, as did John. “Look at us!” said Peter. 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6But Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”

7Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong. 8He sprang to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and leaping and praising God. (Acts 3:1-7).

While the man clung to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and ran to them in the walkway called Solomon’s Colonnade.d 12And when Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why are you surprised by this? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him. 14You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of this fact.

16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence. (Acts 3:11-16) BEREAN

Faith in his name has made this man well. Not faith in ‘faith. many have faith in their faith.’ They’ll tell you faith will overcome, and it will, they’ll tells you ‘my faith will get my miracle’…and it will.’ Then truen essence, substance and source of faith is Jesus.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and we were talking of faith. He kept saying ‘faith in the almighty’ I said tell me what’s the name of the almighty? he hesitated? I eased his pain and said it is ‘Jesus.’ Why do folks hesitate to say ‘Jesus.’ This  man had faith in the name even though he had been at the pool waiting for his miracle for maybe over forty years.

Could it be in many of our lives that we have not received a miracle because we have grown in faith, yet not grown in the understanding of the greatest faith key there is that is the revelation of the name of Jesus. That’s where faith is loosed and miracles are released, at the name of Jesus. The point of your miracles is the point of your confession of the name of Jesus.

The Ox and Ass knoweth her Maker

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

4Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.~ (Isaiah 1:3,4)

The ox and the ass ‘knoweth’ his owner. the one who feeds and sustatins her. Israel does not know. the animal being not endowed with the intelligence of man, here act more intelligently hat man Israel the people who unlike other peoples have knowledge of God yet here act with an intelligence below that of the animals. what a contrasts.

Christmas is a reminder of the natural order of man. Creation recognises the creator and so should we.

When man denies the living Creator he become s a reprobate in mind heart and soul. does not conscience declare there is a higher one, a Creator. Animals do not need to discuss it or be educated of it. they simply know it. The ox and ass knoweth their maker! (Romans 1:28). To abandon all sense of God has serious repercussions, the mind is then found to be in a state of degeneration, where man seeks knowledge of himself when himself should be known, ‘does not nature tell’ (1 Cor 14). Some truths about nature God and the creative order are inbuilt into the sense consciousness. Take a bird for example, no one teaches a bird to hunt for food or fly, he simply does it when scripture tells us that God man over to a reprobate mind

because that which may be known of God is manifest in them for God hath shown it to them (Romans 1:19).

Knowledge comes from God of God comes from God, alone! Man’s conscience told him that there was a God in the heavens and here the prophets rebuke stings, ‘Israel has gone backwards.’

To go back from common sense, to making ones own logic, one’s own salvation. To submit to the popular and present thoughts of man when conscience already told you there is a God. To resort back to legalistic ways and religious duties to make you look Good in the sight of God when Christ has already made you free from the law of sin and death.

You have observed weekly sabbaths, new moon rituals but When you spread your hands toward me I will hide mine eyes from you. When you make many prayers I will close my ears to you . God relaying the fact that rituals rules and Holy convocations are pointless unless one lives an upright life. (v11).

The law has been abolished, (Romans 14:5-6 Galatians 4:9-10 Colossians .2:14-17).

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19.If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

The discussion with deity. does not mean God uis about to compromise his standards mo rather it is he that is about to require a higher life standard. One of his righteousness not our own.

Wash yourself (Isaiah 1:16).
Cease to do evil
Learn to do well (Isaiah 1:17).

Mary’s Child, Mary’s Creator.

Now the Birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise, when as his Mother Mary was espoused to Jospeh before they came together when was found with child of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1;18).

Begat Greek ‘gennao’ as in generation. or genesis or geneology and means to ‘bring forth,’ translated ‘born’ (Matthew 1:16). and ‘conceive’ (Matthew 1;20)… ‘of the Holy Ghost’ (Luke 1;35 John 1;14 Php 2 Hebrews 2).

Declares the Lord was here Father. Jesus is not have two Fathers. Jesus was himself the Everlasting Father. The Son was the incarnation of himself just as in Abraham’s sacrifice of his son the Son was the sacrifice of himself. God will provide a sacrifice for himself or ‘himself’ the sacrifice.

Mary’s Son was Mary’s God.
Mary’s child was Mary’s Lord.
Mary’s Father was Mary’s Son.

How could Mary’s Son be older than her? How could the Son be born before the Mother! and exist without Mother or father (Genesis) yet be called Mary’s Son?

These questions all have a simply answer. The one born of Mary was the self existent one who by his own self, his Spirit choose to dwell in Mary and so create one new man of himself the man Christ Jesus.

God in a Body Without Limits

God shall provide “himself” a lamb (Genesis 22:8)  “through the VEIL, that is to say, his flesh; ” (Hebrews 10:20)

God veiled in flesh! His flesh body was like a restriction, a limitation, a barrier, a cage, for the purpose of humanity and being human. God couldn’t be man and God if he had no body! His body gave him access to the human world. To feel its pain and take on our sins. Without a body there could be no sacrifice. Without the sacrifice there could be no resolution, redemption or salvation.

“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the GATE, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber. But the one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen for his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will flee from him because they do not recognize his voice. Jesus spoke to them using this illustration, but they did not understand what He was telling them. So He said to them again, “Truly, truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before ere thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness. (John 10:1-11)

Think of this, to vote in this country you haver to be a citizen of this country, to have authority here you have to be born in that country. In America this is so. No man can be president unless he is born in America. His body (gate) itself gave God legal access to the human world. The thief comes to steal kill and destroy. the thief comes into the fold (world) ‘another way,’ the illegal way. I’m talking about Satan himself, who comes not through birth-right (a woman) but through demonisation. He comes as a thief in the night. Jesus comes in the day, he came through the woman this gives him legal access in earth.

Now his body was a limitation. think of this The human body keeps us in one place at one time. God who is spirit is omnipresent that is everywhere present yet when he took on flesh he limited himself, to do the work of God. Only through his body could he be the sacrifice, only through his body could he be made sin. Only through his body and the death of it could we be united with him. Only thought the body, his body could he be made a curse with our sins.

Only God could become what he was not, mere man! Only an incarnation could prove God is one. What man did not know was that his flesh was the son among us, what man did not see that behind the veil was the mighty God, “God” with us! (Isaiah 9:6).

The Wells of Salvation

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 3.Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. 4And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. 5.Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. (Isaiah 12:). O what depths! refreshment, Promise!

1.GOD IS MY SALVATION: my strength and my Song (v1)

God is my salvation.
He has become my salvation.
Moses composed this after the people had crossed the red sea, (Exodus14:2). They wer chased by Pharoah and Gods people complained to Moses.
”Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the SALVATION of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

See the Salvation of the Lord. The pillar of fire by night the cloud by day, the Saving power of the waters. figurative of baptism “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6.Now these things were our examples” ( 1 Cor 10:1-6).

The author, the sustainer, the giver, Salvation from another is unknown, not even with its AI, UN, Trump, peace deals, financial restrictions or tariffs. Only in him is there salvation, salvation for one, the rich one, the poor one, the influencial one, the unknown one. Salvation comes from the Lord. The children of Israel sang about their deliverance. Folks make fun of our sinning in God’s house, but we know what the Lord has done for us, we know what it means to be delivered form our enemies we known what it means to come through the waters of baptism free from every enemy. we who were slaves to Pharoah and his system are slaves no more. This is our story this is our song praising our salvior all the day Long.

2.Because the Lord is my Salvation; I with Joy shall draw water from its wells (v3)

He’s water is the desert. In response to the complaints of the people Moses smote the rock and from, it water gushed forth. Grace in the desert. And all did drink the same spiritual drink foir they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them and that rock was Christ (1 Cor 10:4).

Wells ‘intensive plural’ there are many of them, all have the same source, Christ when a man drinks form the Bible wells, he never thirst again, He never thirds again for truth, revelation, answers! Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John4:13, 14).

And I will bring the blind by a way they knew not (Isaiah 12:16a) I will even make a way in the worlderness and rivers in the deserts (Isaiah 43:19b).

I will open up rivers in high places and fountains in the midst of the valleys Isaiah 41:17,18), Valleys that a common term for the communities in south wales where once there was revival. O that God would open up the pools there once again rivers in high places and fountains n the midst of the valleys. Rivers, pools, springs, fountains! all descriptive of the fullness of his riches of his grace available to us who believe. When you drink of this gospel of Salvatyion you shall never thirst again. I think of those I know who have drawen back formthe faith yet my friuned if you onlyt knew the btrue fsaith the real salvation, the promise given nto you that if you drink of this well You will never thirst again. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14). That which God places in you, His Holy Spirit, is in you a well a well that cannot run dry! Selah.

3.I will declare his doings among the people

To declare publish, make known, to be a herald, a voice! GOD is My Strength and Song (v4). He’s the song in the storm, he’s the song at night. he’s the music, the lyrics, the singer and the song.

5.I WILL MAKE MENTION of his Name (v4)

I will make mention of his name. The Preachers Conversation.! Many call on God, but God can be unknown God can be to many anyone. But God to us is clarely stated the Lord Jehovah, the one who becomes salvation. His name is the sum total of all his attributes, for in him dwells the fulness of deity. The phrase tells us to ‘invoke’ that is call upon him alone. and he himself refreshes and provides refreshment.
This journal is dedicated to making his name known and known in all the earth. His name and his salvation are synonymous, his name means salvation God has become my light and my salvation, through the incarnation, the process by which he became man. He became a man he becomes a well, he became my life. “Behold God is my salvation I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God Jehovah is my strength and my song he also is become my salvation.

6.This is known in all the earth (v5).

This is our task our mission, our assignment to make his name known in all the earth.

Baptism in Jesus Name

THE BELIEVERS BIBLE STUDY
Stewards of The mysteries of God
Baptism in Jesus Name (1)
By Paul B Thomas

Topic: Baptism in Jesus Name
Scripture Reading: (Ephesians 1:17)
Purpose: Purpose: This is a mini course to give you the basics of water baptism. It is not a doctrinal study however but it is biblically sound and patterns itself around the apostles doctrine which taught the teachings of Jesus himself. It is a brief Discipleship course introducing water baptism in Jesus name to the person who desires to take the first step into the faith.

1.What did Jesus tell John about his baptism?

“Suffer me now”

No man is ever to put off such an important step, the step that puts a man into Christ (Romans 6:3-4).

  1. Was Jesus baptised and why?

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be

baptised of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptised of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptised, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.(Mt 3:13-17).

2.How is baptism carried out and in whose name?

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to.(Matthew 28:19).

3.Why is the Believer to be baptised?

If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15).

4.Did Jesus command us to be baptised?

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.(Mark 16:16).

5.Did the Apostles Command believers to be baptised?

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen (Acts 1:1).

And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord, then prayed they him to tarry certain days (Acts 10;48).

6.If someone asks what shall we do, what should be your answer?

The Jews also had heard the truth and were also wondering what to do, for they asked Peter, “What shall we do?” To this Peter replied, “Repent and be baptised every one of you for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38).

7.When should one be baptised?

Baptism is to be done immediately. The belivers did not hesitate to be baptised. “Those who heard Peter’s message they that received his Word were baptised and there were added unto them in “that day” about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41)

8.Describe the Ethiopian’s Eunich’s baptism?

Behold here is water “what doth hinder me” to be baptised? … and he “commanded” the chariot to stand still and they both went down into the water… and he baptised him (Acts 8:36,38) note first, we are commanded to be baptised not invited. Secondly it the Eunich was baptised immediately. He was travelling and he stopped the chariot immediately.

9.Describe Saul’s baptism

And Now why tarriest thou? (Acts 22;16a). “And Now why tarriest thou, arise and be baptised and wash away thy sins, calling on his name” ( Acts 22:16).

10.Describe the Philippian Jailor’s baptism?

Baptised the same hour. “He Was taken the same hour of the night and was baptised, he and all his, immediately” (Acts 16:29-34). Such was the importance of baptism that Paul awoke the whole family out of bed in the middle of the night

11..Does baptism place us in right standing with God?

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptised of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptised of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptised, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.(Matthew 3:13-17).

12..Who are the saved ones?

He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark 16:16).

13.What takes place in water baptism?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptised into Jesus Christ were baptised into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.(Romans 6:3-7)

14..What does Romans 6:4 tell us about our death, burial and resurrection?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4).

15.What happens to the old man in baptism?

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (Colossians 2:11,12).

16What did it take to do all this?

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.(Col 2:12)

17.Was anyone ever re-baptised?

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptised? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptised with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.(Acts 19:1-5).

NOTES:

Jesus and his name are one. It is Jesus that baptises us when we take on his name. Hence the singular name of Matthew 28. There’s power healing deliverance and salvation Jesus and as we take on his name these things become ours. Salvation’s our because Jesus has become our salvation. We appropriate it through obedience to his commands. The believer is a baptised one who has take-in his name in baptism and so becomes a child of God. We are begotten of him when we take phis name that is adopted by God when we take on his name. Those born  of God are called by his name.

Our Great God and Saviour!

Posted on October 11, 2023 by admin

This post has already been read 2951 times!

God calls the Word ‘God’ in Hebrews, ‘but unto the son he saith, they throne O God is forever a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom’ (Hebrews 1;8).
The Apostle Paul calls him the ‘True God.’ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know him that is TRUE. And we are in him that is TRUE, This is the TRUE GOD  and eternal life. (1 John 5:20). So this TRUE GOD has a Throne, and is ETERNAL LIFE. Called (as a man, in his sonship the Son of God! No other God has a throne and is called Eternal Life. this is the God man Jesus Christ!
Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the GREAT GOD, and our SAVIOUR Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). ‘he’ gave ‘himself.’  (v14) the latter confirming the singularity of the one referred to. ‘He’ Christ giving himself, He being both God and Savior who gave himself.
O we are so so familiar with the text of John 3;16 that tells us ‘God gave his Son’ that we forget many other texts that tell us that ‘God give himself.’

HISTORICAL EVIDENCE of BAPTISM IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

On these is founded the Article in the Nicene Creed, “I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.” “All sins whatsoever any person has previously been guilty of, are remitted in his Baptism,”—Pearson, on the Creed; abridged by Rev. J. Gorle, M.A., page 372.

The followers of Campbell, an American Baptist, and the Christadelphians also, hold that the faith with which pardon is connected can be expressed only by submitting to immersion in water—thus making Baptism essential to forgiveness and acceptance with God. Thus in the “Declaration” issued by the Christadelphians and published by R. Roberts, of Birmingham, it is asserted that “Baptism…is only enjoined on those who have intelligence enough to believe the glad tidings of the kingdom of God, and the things concerning the name of Jesus Christ. To such it is the means of that present union with Christ, which is preparatory to perfect assimilation at the resurrection. It is, therefore, necessary to salvation.” page 51.

" Canney's Encyclopedia of Religions (1970), page 53: "Persons were baptized at first 'in the name of Jesus Christ' . . . or 'in the name of the Lord Jesus: . . . . Afterwards, with the development of the doctrine of the Trinity, they were baptized 'in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost'."

The Catholic Encyclopedia, II, 263: "The baptismal formula was changed from the name of Jesus Christ to the words Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by the Catholic Church in the second century."

Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics (1951), II, 384, 389: "The formula used was 'in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ' or some synonymous phrase; there is no evidence for the use of the trine name. . . . The earliest form, represented in the Acts, was simple immersion . . . in water, the use of the name of the Lord, and the laying on of hands. To these were added, at various times and places which cannot be safely identified, (a) the trine name (Justin), . . "

SUCCESS- VICTORY - FAITH - HEALING -SALVATION

This Journal is brought to you by Paul B Thomas and Image Breakers. Hi my Name is Paul B Thomas and I thank you for joining me online to read this journal . My Passion and indeed my life’s purpose and mission is to Preach Jesus. I have a favourite saying is ‘If we want to see it like the apostles saw it then we must believe it like they believed it!’ Acts days are here again!  The pattern and plan for preaching the gospel is clearly given to us there.  Join me in the Mission as together we preach to the nations that there is salvation in none other name, than the name of Jesus.    PAUL

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (Acts 2;38-41)

Did Peter Preach the gospel of Jesus as in John 3;5?

Peter was given the keys to the kingdom by Jesus. Keys that give one access to the kingdom. The  very essence of Jesus teaching in John 3. where the KINGDOM is mentioned both in verse 3 and verse 5.

The apostles did not start preaching the salvation message until they had been endued with power on high at Pentecost, as commanded by Jesus. After pentecost they preached the first gospel message and saw the first of many thousands of souls saved as a result of preaching this gospel of Jesus.

Yes peter obeyed Jesus.

SEED For The Sower.

Salvation belongs to the Lord (Psalm 3:8).
God is the God of Salvation (Psalm 68:20).
The Lord is my strength and Song and has become my salvation (Psalm 118:14).
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous (Psalm 118:15).

The Way

God’s special offer!

The gospel is expansive but the way is narrow. The gospel is generous but the way is limited. The gospel is more than just being saved (As if a man could want more than being saved that alone is Gods most generous gift). Its a gift of liberty ad freedom, hope and faith for a brighter tomorrow, a new mindset that replaces carnal mans negative gloominess. It is an offer of eternl life think of that, after death life! which means death is no longer a man’s enemy, but an open door to a greater dimension of life.

Jesus has the sole right to make man such an offer. He who obtained salvation owns the legal right to make it available to the whosoever. ‘Whosoever will may come!’ he alone purchased eternal life by destroying death and offering a buy back plan for you and I. We who were Gods property we taken by sin and shapen in iniquity, but Salvation came and glory to the Lord eternal life becomes ours through the New Birth.

The death of Christ satisfies the legal demands of the law which must be satisfied in order for justice to be done. Christ Jesus became sin for us being made a curse for us and so as man died for us yet as God redeemed us and bought us back and brought us out of sins grip. He conquered death sin and the grave so that we in him and by faith in him would be made beneficiaries of this great hope. Its in him that we become partakers of this glorious victory and redemption. Its as if we have conquered death overcome sin and risen again to eternal life for what he has done for one he has also obtained for all. LIFE!

The Word Salvation in the Greek means wholeness, health deliverance.

PENTECOSTAL HISTORY (2)
Jesus Name Baptism and Azusa

Cont from Part 1

David Floyd was born in 1889 baptised in Jesus name in Houston in 1910 and filled with the Holy Ghost He taught the Oneness of God in Elton Bible Conference. he ws one of two men living who attended the Hot Springs Arkansas camp meeting in 1814 where the Assemblies of God was formed and Oct 1916 Assemblies of God Conference in St Louis MO where the Oneness brethren were voted from their ranks.

The AG made a doctrinal statement

while the New Birth, published by the UPCI in 1984, I stated, "All doctrine must be based on Scripture alone and not on man's traditions, creeds, or philosophies.... The Bible is the sole authority for doctrine and instruction in salvation.... We must limit ourselves to the clear teaching of Scripture" (pp. 257, 306).

These men and others who joind them formed the Oneness organisation The general Assembly of the Apostolic Assemblies. Floyd worked with many early figures including Charles Parnham and Maria Woodworth Etter and Joseph R Flowers. He also corresponded with Frank Bartleman who was instrumental in the early Azusa days and who had embraced the Oneness doctrine and the Acts 238 message.

Floyd stated that Baptism in Jesus name existed before the 1913 Arroyo Seco Camp-meeting. Charles Parnham had been baptising in Jesus name since the mid 1980’s. William J Seymour attended Parnham’s Bible school in Houston and followed Panham’s example of Baptism in Jesus name. (Larry L Booker. Pentecostal Herald)

Glenn Cooke was an elder in Azusa Street mission and he and Frank Ewart baptised each other in Jesus name for the remission of sins Acts 238. on April 5 1914. More about Frank Ewart to follow.
