Subject: THE TRUE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

Scripture Reading John 3:5
Purpose: Understanding the true gospel in a world full of fake and false alternative gospels

THE SCRIPTURES

1. What is the true Gospel?
Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners (John 5:39).

2. What Did Jesus say a man had to do in order to be saved?
Except a man be born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven (John 3:5).

3. What is born of water?
What shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:37,38).

4. How are sins washed away?
Does baptism now save us
(Romans 6:3,4)

5.How did The Gentiles Receive salvation.?
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.  (Acts 10:44-47).

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:11).

6.Did Paul preach the gospel of Jesus?

Cor Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures

7.The new birth is a resurrection from the dead.
“But if the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (resurrect) your mortal bodies, by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
(Romans 8:11). “And you being dead in your sins… hath he quickened (resurrected) together with him having forgiven you the trespasses” (Colossians 2:13).

NOTES:
The New Birth is a death, burial and a ressurrection.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. (Romans 6:5-7).

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (Romans 6:10).

For further Study:

The apostles preached the gospel of DEATH BURIAL AND RESURRECTION. Acts 1:22 Acts 2:24,32 Acts 3:15:26 Acts 4:10,33 Acts 5:30,32 Acts 7:55,56 Acts 10:40-43 Acts 13:30-39 Acts 17:31,32 Acts 26:8-23.

Questions to Consider: how can we grow in family prayer? What family bible time together? What time have we made for fellowship each week?

The Thief on The Cross Dilema

Q. Is there such a thing as death bed conversion. by that I mean a man can say a prayer and ask Jesus into his heart and go to heaven?

  1. Can a man really live like a fool all his life and then on his deathbed at a grave old age ask God to forgive him! I say ‘No’ because the bible teaches us different. Here are the two statements for consideration here.

The thief on the cross: “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” 43And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:42)

Jesus said to Nicodemus: Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ ( John 3:5).

A. Both of these instances are to do with the kingdom. There are not two ways into the kingdom. The Thief on the cross incident took place before Clavary and redemption. No one would enter the kingdom until after Pentecost and the giving of the Holy Ghost and Salvation. This is why Jesus told his disciple ‘pray thy kingdom come’ (Matthew 6:9-10). It had not come, but they were to pray that it would come!

Secondly note too that, the thief entered paradise. The prayers of the Saints were for us to enter the Kingdom. Let me say this, today, we don’t pray to go to heaven we pray to enter the kingdom! The kingdom is us on earth in Christ. This is why we are born again. We are not just born again to go to heaven we are born again primarily to access the kingdom here and now.

B. Jesus said ‘I am the door,’ So may are stuck at the door. They say things like ‘well I have given my life to Christ’!” No you dont give your life to Christ Christ gives his life to you!

The door provides access into God’s house. Jesus also said ‘I am the way.’ The way provides the path or road that leads to the house. Some think that the path is the ‘Roman road’ of salvation (Ro 10:9) others go the Calvary Road way the true way of salvation the water and Spirit way (John 3:5).

So there is a door and a way into the kingdom, you got to come into the house the right way. some try to get in ‘some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.’ Yes thief the same word that described the thief on the cross. sop may are thieves trying to enter in another way, today! and those that preach this easy believism way are the robbers too.

The door is a portal and the way is the path . The path is his name, the Jesus way the Jesus road, He said enter in through the gate. He who enters through me shall be saved he will come in and go our and find pasture… and life to the full (John 10:9-10), So just as the gate is synonymous with the new birth so too is the kingdom and Jesus name.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38). and they were added to the church (Acts 2:42).

Remember Jesus had said when you pray, say Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name ,thy kingdom come. When you repent and are baptised you have come into the kingdom as a son, a baptised one. One who has takn on the father name. You are a CHRISTian or a Jesus person. A son of God! Allk who are born of God have his spirit and take on his family name. SELAH

C. There is no example of anyone being called “saved” through a death bed conversion in the bible. The thief on the cross was told by Jesus that he would be in paradise that day. The thief on the cross was the other side of Calvary and therefore under the Old Covenant where folks were saved or had a righteousness according to faith. Abraham you remember was made righteous because of his faith.

Paul tells us about this in Romans 10:4 where Christ is the end of the law of righteousness to every one that believeth. He then goes on to tell us of the righteousness that is given us by Christ by faith (v4). Baptism has an essential part in this, where even Jesus himself was baptized to “fulfill all righteousness” and told us that we had to too (Matt 3:15) “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” (Mark16:16).

The new birth where a man has to be “born of water and Spirit” is for all this side of Calvary. (John 3:5) Salvation is through Jesus and his Way. The way of salvation as we know it first given by Jesus then taught by the apostles.

Jesus said a man had to be born of water and Spirit. There can be no resurrection without the Spirit. How can the dead arise without the Holy Ghost? The Body without the Spirit can not live again neither can it be resurrected. The spirit is life, the life of Christ in mortal flesh. Man may be alive but he is dead in trespasses and sins and as a dead man (without God) it is impossible for him to rise again. Only those who have the spirit of life will be alive “in” Christ Jesus.

Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.… (1 Cor 13:12-14).

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Romans 8:9). And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (v10)

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (v11)

Could a man live like the devil and say a prayer of repentance and be born again at his deathbed? Really! Would not that make the words of Jesus of no avail! Calvary and Being born of water and Spirit would NOT be necessary if this was so¬

Should we not stick to things that are written?

A man must be born of water and Spirit. (John 3:5 Acts 2:38 Acts 10:44-47). I wouldn’t want to take the chance with my eternity. Would you! I wouldn’t want to be live a lie. Would you? I want to enjoy the benefits of life in the kingdom. not just enjoy Paradise when I die for I may live many years before I get there. In the meantime i have some living to do.

SUCCESS- VICTORY - FAITH - HEALING -SALVATION

This Journal is brought to you by Paul B Thomas and Image Breakers. Hi my Name is Paul B Thomas and I thank you for joining me online to read this journal . My Passion and indeed my life’s purpose and mission is to Preach Jesus. I have a favourite saying is ‘If we want to see it like the apostles saw it then we must believe it like they believed it!’ Acts days are here again!  The pattern and plan for preaching the gospel is clearly given to us there.  Join me in the Mission as together we preach to the nations that there is salvation in none other name, than the name of Jesus.    PAUL

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (Acts 2;38-41)

Did Peter Preach the gospel of Jesus as in John 3;5?

Peter was given the keys to the kingdom by Jesus. Keys that gove one access to the kingdom. The  very essence of Jesus teaching in John 3. where the KINGDOM is mentioned both in verse 3 and verse 5.

The apostles did not start preaching the salvation message until they had been endued with power on high at Pentecost, as commanded by Jesus. After pentecost they preached the first gospel message and saw the first of many thousands of souls saved as a result of preaching this gospel of Jesus.

Yes peter obeyed Jesus.

SEED For The Sower.

Salvation belongs to the Lord (Psalm 3:8).
God is the God of Salvation (Psalm 68:20).
The Lord is my strength and Song and has become my salvation (Psalm 118:14).
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous (Psalm 118:15).

JOHN 3:5 AND THE GOSPEL OF JESUS

The gospel of Jesus.

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit
(John 3;1-7

The one statement that folks seem )to in order otday everyone quotes John 3:5 Few mention John 3;4. of course this leaves a man in the quandry verse 16 tells us that a man who believes has eternal life while verse five tells us a man must be born of water and SPIRIT in order to have eternal life. Clearly then the answer is, we are not given a choice here there are no two ways top obtain eternal life and both verses have to be applied. But How

First a man must believe For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Look again, ‘whosoever believeth’ that’s the first step one must believe. Whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. ‘Should not’ perish. in 0ther words the believer can perish but should not perish, but this is only possible of he has not got eternal life!. If he has eternal life he will not perish.

So how does the ‘believer’ obtain eternal life? after all most folks think that if they believe they have eternal life.. Not so for James tells us that ‘the devil believes’ and my friend as a believer he most definately is not born again!

So again back to John 3:5… after believing we must be born of water and spirit, that is baptised for the remission of sins (water) and receive the Holy Ghost (Spirit) upon arising out of the watery grave that my friend is the gospel of Salvation and the meaning of John 3:1-16) Jesus discourse on How to be born again.

PENTECOSTAL HISTORY
APRIL 1913. Arroyo Seco, Los Angeles, California.

A gathering took place of ministers from many nations including Canada and beyond for a camp-meeting that included Maria Etter a minister known for here signs and wonders ministry.

It is estimated that over 500 souls got saved and baptised in the Holy Ghost. but something else was also stirring in heavenlies. An event where the ministers there would experience both the vision for God’s ‘New thing’ and a revelation of the name of Jesus in baptism. One gospel preacher from Canada, R. E. McAlister preached a message about water baptism. He analysed the different methods of baptism which were supposed to support the Matthew 28;19 scripture. After examining the triune baptism he stated that in his judgement, "The words Father, Son, and Holy Ghost were never used in Christian baptism" And that according to the book of Acts the apostles baptised in the name of Jesus.

John G. Schaepe, a young minister, was so moved by McAlister's revelation that, after praying and reading the Bible all night, he ran through the camp the following morning shouting that he'd received a "revelation" on baptism, that the "name" of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit was "Lord Jesus Christ"

A stirring took place that day in Arroyo seco and hundreds of preachers accepted the message that had been brought to them and got rebaptised into the name of Jesus just as the book of Acts tells us. and so began the Oneness Pentecostal movement in America and later throughout the world, including China.

This conclusion regarding the name of Jesus, was accepted by several others in the camp and given further theological development by a minister named Frank J. Ewart, who wrote the excellent book entitled the Name and The Book. He was originally from Australia and came to the US and became Pastor of one of the largest missions in America. He left the Baptist church in 1914 and went forth preaching in a tent missions in the East side of Los Angeles on the name of God. He edited and published ‘Meat in Due Season’ a paper which attained a high readership volume and circulation His name became synonymous with the Oneness message.

A division took place between the AG Assemblies of God and the Jesus name Oneness believers which lead to the AG implementing a statement of faith that they believed and practiced the Matthew 28 formula of baptism in then name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost. Which of course was a rejection of the book of Acts way of salvation.
